ABOUT MARK

As Trinity Western University’s fifth president and vice chancellor, Mark Husbands is wholeheartedly committed to advancing the mission of a university where people love Christ, love the gospel, and—through Christlike service—seek to use their gifts to transform the world.

An abiding commitment to Christianity and the truth of God’s Word has been a constant and wonderfully formative part of Mark’s adult life. Mark has the privilege of studying and working with the late John Webster, one of the 20th century’s most important Christian theologians. Mark’s own scholarship and teaching underscores the contemporary significance of Barth’s theology, along with attention to world Christianity, political and moral theology.

A commitment to academic excellence, Christ-centered, global education and world Christianity have characterized his academic life as well as his service in the church. Motivated to help students connect their faith and learning to the deepest needs and challenges of the world, Mark invites students to consider the arc of their lives in light of the person and work of Christ in such a way as to advance confidence in the truth of the Bible as God’s Word. This is reflected in the TWU vision statement: “Every graduate is equipped to think truthfully, act justly, and live faithfully for the good of the world and the glory of God."

Dr. Husbands believes that Trinity Western offers students an unparalleled opportunity to connect knowledge, skills, faith, and purpose; in short, to face the world fearlessly, faithfully, and with joyful confidence in the light and truth of the gospel.
