Admission Requirements

ACTS Seminaries welcomes applicants who confess faith in Jesus, are members in or connected with a local church, and possess a desire for academic and spiritual growth within the ACTS Seminaries community. A completed bachelor degree from an accredited university or college is the standard academic prerequisite. Some programs have additional academic prerequisites as listed below.

ACTS Seminaries admits qualified women and men of any race, nationality or ethnic origin. Please note that meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission. ACTS may consider applicants who do not meet the minimum academic requirements, provided they can demonstrate the ability to succeed at the graduate level.

Standard Admission Requirements

  • A bachelor degree from an accredited university or college with a minimum 2.5 GPA (on a 4.0 GPA scale).

  • Two references in support of your application - one reference from a pastor or spiritual mentor and the second as an academic or character reference.

  • Transcripts from all your post-secondary studies. These should be sent directly from your all your previous educational institutions to ACTS. Transcripts must be submitted in English or accompanied by a notarized translation. Non-North American transcripts may require a Canadian degree equivalency evaluation.

  • Students for whom English is a second language must provide an English Proficiency Score as a part of the application process. The minimum English proficiency test scores required for all graduate programs are as follows:

Additional Program-Specific Admission Requirements

Non-Degree Students

A Canadian citizen or landed immigrant who has a bachelor's degree may apply as a non-degree student. Transcripts and references are not required.

  • Non-degree students can take up to four courses (12 semester hours) without enrolling in a degree program.

  • Courses may be taken for credit (and applied to a subsequent degree program at ACTS), through a letter of permission (towards a degree program at another seminary) or for audit.


Master of Arts in Linguistics and Translation

  • A bachelor degree in any discipline from an accredited university or college with a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.75 (on a 4.0 GPA scale). Applicants must also have completed at least 12 semester hours (4 courses) of linguistics prerequisites, with a minimum grade of B.

  • Applicants who have not taken these pre-requisite courses in Linguistics (Language and Society, Articulatory Phonetics, Phonological Analysis, and Morphosyntax I or approved equivalents) will be required to successfully complete them before starting the MALT program. These courses can be done through the Canada Institute of Linguistics, ideally through the Summer Program.


Master of Theological Studies

  • A bachelor degree in biblical studies or theology from an accredited university or college with a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.00 (on a 4.0 scale).

  • A minimum of 12 semester hours within the undergraduate degree should correspond to the intended area of MTS specialization.


Master of Theology

  • A Master of Divinity degree or educational equivalent from an accredited institution with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 GPA scale).

  • A minimum of 12 semester hours (excluding language courses) should correspond to the intended area of MTh specialization.

  • A minimum of six semester hours of an ancient language (such as Hebrew, Greek, or Latin) OR a modern language (such as German, French, or Spanish).

    • OT specialization requires nine semester hours of Hebrew.

    • NT specialization requires nine semester hours of Greek.

    • Septuagint specialization requires six semester hours of Greek AND 6 semester hours of Hebrew.


Doctor of Ministry

  • A Master of Divinity degree or educational equivalent from an accredited institution with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 GPA scale).

  • Three letters of reference - one pastoral or spiritual mentor reference, one academic reference and one letter of support/endorsement from your current ministry context.

  • Three years of ministry experience after your MDiv or equivalent degree
