How does the Bible inform your life and teaching?
The Bible is rich with stories about the people of God that offers a foundation on how to view, understand, and interpret the world that we live in today. This is true for my life and in my teaching as well. One verse that I have continuously reflected on during my journey of faith is found in Psalms 119:105: "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path."
Why do you value a theological education?
I believe that theological education trains future leaders to lead others so they may deal with the issues that people face today. Whether they become leaders of the church, ministries, or the marketplace, theological education enables leaders to think deeply about scripture, church, and culture.
What are some of the diverse voices you incorporate into your teaching?
I incorporate a wide range of voices in my teaching, some that I agree with and others that I may not. I find the voices of our interpretive history a rich resource such as the early church fathers, Jewish interpreters, Reformers, and modern interpreters from different cultural backgrounds.
What do you hope your students get out of your classes?
I hope my students grow and develop an appreciation and passion for the Bible so they grow deeper in their wisdom, faith, and conviction.
Why are you at ACTS Seminaries?
This is such a deep existential question to answer in a few sentences. On the one hand, I’m here because there were people who gave me the opportunity to serve. At the same time, I believe that God has led me here. To be involved in teaching and mentoring future Christian leaders is humbling and rewarding. I am grateful to be a part of ACTS seminaries.
