Looking ahead to the launch of a TWU School of Theology
Ahead of the launch of a TWU School of Theology, a series of preparation steps are taking place. This fall, the University welcomed the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) for a site visit. In the spring of 2025, ATS will vote regarding transferring governance and control of ACTS Seminaries to the TWU School of Theology.

TWU welcomes new ACTS Seminaries Academic Director Dr. Susan Wendel
As academic director, Dr. Wendel will lead in shaping theological curriculum and educational experience as Trinity Western University and ACTS Seminaries partner to envision the launching of a TWU School of Theology in May 2026.
The ACTS Seminaries transition is implemented to improve the student experience and the quality of theological education. During the transition, our priority is to ensure that the student experience remains seamless, with no noticeable disruptions to your current program and seminary experience.
How will my program be impacted?
Your program requirements and credits for graduation will stay the same throughout the transition.
What will ongoing denominational partnerships look like?
Please contact your denominational seminary with your questions.
Why is ACTS Seminaries entering this transition process?
The new Trinity Western University School of Theology will cooperate with existing ACTS partners to provide excellent theological education with a streamlined governance model.
What will be different?
This will be a structural change, giving administrators access to more resources to improve the student experience.
Will there be any changes to campus services, dining options, housing, and other student resources?
Your campus resources will be unchanged and you will continue to have access to all your current student benefits.
How will the transition affect ACTS Seminaries' accreditation status and reputation?
ACTS will continue to have Association of Theological Schools (ATS) accreditation throughout the transition. This ensures that our programs meet rigorous academic and professional standards.
Will the transition impact the value of my degree?
Your degree before and after the transition will be ATS accredited, showing a significant mark of quality and credibility for being an ACTS Seminaries graduate. Your degree will be recognized and respected by other institutions and ministry-focused workplaces.
How will the quality of my education be ensured and maintained during the transition?
The transition is coordinated by ATS to ensure we maintain a professional standard of education for our students.
Will there be any changes to the faculty or staff?
During the transition, no changes are planned for faculty and staff.
How will the transition impact my relationships with faculty and staff?
Throughout this transition, the faculty and staff will continue to be available to meet your needs.
Will there be any changes to tuition fees or financial aid policies during the transition?
On average, tuition fees increase with the inflation rate at around 3% annually.
How will the transition impact my current financial aid package or scholarships?
Your current financial aid package and scholarships will remain the same.
Will this impact my seminary funding and financial support?
For information on financial aid with a specific seminary, it's best that you contact your denominational seminary.
