Christmas Greetings and Update

Dear Students, Alumni,  and Friends of ACTS Seminaries:

What a joy to offer a Christmas greeting to you! As the end of the semester approaches, with the typical rush to complete assignments, I trust each of you will find time to celebrate the wonder of the incarnation. I pray that we, with Mary, will declare praise: “my soul magnifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior” (Luke 1:46-47). Like her, may we find ways to express our gratitude for the first coming of Christ and may we also experience afresh the gift of his ongoing presence with us. Truly, “the Mighty One has done great things for [us] and holy is his name” (Luke 1:49).

As your new Academic Director, I want to personally update you about the plans for our transition to become Trinity Western School of Theology. Here are the upcoming steps in this process:

  • In January 2025, we will form a transitioning team with representatives from faculty, administration, ACTS board, and ACTS staff.

  • By April 2025, the transitioning team will

    • articulate the vision and mission for TWU School of Theology,

    • develop a framework, or pattern, for organizational structure change, and

    • outline and begin to implement a strategic plan.

After April 2025, I will share the more developed vision and transition plan with you, as well as hold a forum in which I answer your questions about the details of the transition.

Even as we aim for transition and change, we want you to know that we remain committed to providing you with a seamless learning experience. To this end, as stated in previous communication, we will ensure that everyone has access to the programming and courses needed to graduate.

I pray that you will have a wonderful break and joyous Christmas celebration.

Grace and peace,
Susan J. Wendel, PhD
Academic Director, Professor of New Testament
