Master of Arts in Linguistics and Translation

The Master of Arts in Linguistics and Translation trains you in the techniques of applied linguistics and interpretation of biblical texts for effective cross-cultural communication and ministry. This unique degree is offered through ACTS Seminaries in partnership with the Canada Institute of Linguistics (CanIL), located right next-door on campus. ACTS provides the exegetical training in biblical interpretation and theology, and CanIL offers the linguistics courses.

Be prepared to produce scientific descriptions of languages and cultures, literature and materials for literacy instruction, and translations of the Bible in the more than 1500 languages that still do not have access to Scripture. Learn from faculty who have extensive field experience in applied linguistics, computer applications, literacy, community development and Bible translation in languages around the world.

Financial aid is available through both ACTS and CanIL. There are many mentoring opportunities available for students to train in a variety of linguistic and cultural contexts through teaching assistant positions and research opportunities.

*The Master of Arts in Linguistics and Translation contains 53 credit hours and can be done in two-to-three years of full time study, or over a longer period of part-time study. This degree is granted conjointly by Trinity Western University and the seminary in which the student is enrolled.
